Called Schaustelle, it will appear next to the museum building by February 2013, when it closes for renovations. In the building, which interprets the familiar image of scaffolding, it will be possible to hold exhibitions, conferences, film screenings, arrange performances and installations.
The open part of the building, the "forest" itself, will serve as a public space for the townspeople. It is also planned to arrange media projections there in the dark.
The Pinakothek building, built in 2002 according to the project of Stefan Braunfels, will be closed for reconstruction until September 2013. Schaustelle will allow the cultural institute to continue its work in these six months, and will also serve as an appeal to the authorities: the construction of the second building of the museum has been postponed indefinitely due to the crisis. which jeopardizes its normal functioning.
