The Egtved station is located in the town of the same name at the intersection of two gas pipelines - going to the south, to Germany, and to the east, to Sweden. The German pipeline is a relatively new phenomenon: this "gas highway" was built by Energinet.dk to deliver gas from continental Europe to Denmark to replace the dwindling reserves of this resource in the North Sea.
Typically, industrial buildings in Denmark are planted with greenery so that their unattractive appearance does not offend the eye. Here the architects C. F. Møller followed the opposite path: their industrial complex is thoughtfully inscribed in the landscape.
The lower part of the auxiliary buildings of the station is designed as green hills, the top is sheathed with "scales" made of corten steel. A row of them, among other things, serves as a barrier for four compressor units, which are noisy, look less pleasant, and are also potentially dangerous.
