On November 20-21, 2014, Moscow hosted the Third International Forum on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving ENES 2014, which is held at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and the Government of Moscow. Gonzag de Piré, General Director of Saint-Gobain CIS, President of the Union of Enterprises for the Development of Energy Efficiency and Environmental Safety, member of the General Assembly of the Rosizol Association, made a presentation in a number of discussions at the forum.

Energy saving is one of the central problems of the Russian economy today. This was emphasized in his address to the forum participants by Russian President Vladimir Putin: “Today it is energy resources, the efficiency of their production and consumption that are the most important factor in the confident development of the national economy and its competitiveness, and determine the quality of life of people. Our strategic task in this area is to support promising scientific developments and business initiatives, the widespread introduction of advanced, innovative technologies and equipment."

The forum participants discussed a wide range of issues, focusing on the problems of energy conservation in various industries - housing and communal services, fuel and energy complex, agriculture, industry, transport. Much attention was paid to improving energy efficiency in construction, one of the most energy-intensive sectors of the Russian economy. So, if industry uses 28.3% of all energy consumed, transport - 31.3%, then buildings today account for 37.8%, as well as more than 30% of CO emissions2 in atmosphere.

In his report at the All-Russian meeting of the Fund for Assistance to the Reform of Housing and Communal Services on energy conservation and energy efficiency during the overhaul of apartment buildings, Gonzag de Piré spoke about international experience in this area. As the world's largest manufacturer of high-tech materials for the construction industry, Saint-Gobain today has a unique international expertise in energy efficient construction and renovation. As a successful example of the application of energy-saving technologies and materials, he presented the Saint-Gobain Academy, where, after a comprehensive renovation, it was possible to reduce energy consumption from 283 to 43 kWh / m2 per year, as well as to achieve high levels of comfort, acoustics, environmental friendliness.

In recent years, a number of measures have been adopted in Russian legislation aimed at increasing the level of energy efficiency in the construction industry. However, until now, these measures have not yielded noticeable results. This issue was developed during the discussion "Improving the energy efficiency of buildings: creating economic incentives, introducing new technologies and materials." Gonzag de Piré presented the results of a comprehensive sectoral study of international experience in improving energy efficiency and the possibility of its application in Russia. The study was initiated by the Rosizol association in partnership with other professional associations. Based on the data obtained, specific recommendations were developed for the creation of a set of measures to stimulate the reduction of energy consumption in the construction sector, and the economic benefits from their implementation were assessed. In the very near future, these results will be submitted for consideration to the Government of the Russian Federation.
