When evaluating the work, the jury paid special attention to a creative approach to improving the energy efficiency of facilities under construction. According to the chairman of the jury, vice-president of the Union of Moscow Architects, candidate of architecture, head of the Department of Architectural Practice of the Moscow Architectural Institute Elena Bazhenova, “many of the works presented for the competition are not only innovative, but also have high social significance. After all, the most important task of modern architecture is the creation of such projects that would contribute to improving the quality of life of people and preserving the environment. Competitive projects show the ways of real solution of these problems”.

The finalists of the competition demonstrated high professionalism, understanding of the main modern trends in the development of world architecture. Director of the Passive House Institute Alexander Elokhov, commenting on the results of the ISOVER Energy Efficiency Awards 2013, noted: “The main vector of world architecture today is the design of energy-efficient buildings that have a significantly lower environmental impact compared to traditional houses. From this point of view, the project of Dmitry Vikulov and Ilya Navolochny "The first village of energy-efficient houses with ultra-low consumption of thermal energy" is as close as possible to solving the problem of energy-efficient construction. This work received the first private certificate of our institute in Russia for a finished, built and commissioned facility. I am sincerely glad that its authors won 1st place in the competition organized by Saint-Gobain company."

Gonzag de Piré, General Director of Saint-Gobain in Russia, Ukraine and the CIS countries, is confident that the future belongs to energy-efficient construction. “I am delighted that so many Russian architects share Saint-Gobain's vision of sustainable construction. The projects announced for the competition reflect the authors' vision of 21st century architecture and inspire optimism: environmentally friendly and energy efficient construction is already becoming an objective reality,”he said at the awards ceremony.

The ISOVER Energy Efficiency Awards aroused great interest not only in the professional community. The information was also presented on the social networks facebook and VKontakte, the visitors of which could vote for this or that project. According to online voting, the architects of the future were Igor and Anna Bezdenezhnykh, the authors of the project of a private residential two-apartment building “Chupaleyka” located in the Moscow region. The choice of this project by Internet users is not accidental: the main advantages of this energy-efficient semi-detached residential building are its simplicity, low cost, speed of construction, the ability to carry out installation all year round, as well as low operating costs.

These are the main factors, according to the winner of the competition Dmitry Vikulov: “In Russia, the rise in energy prices is quite high, which means that almost everyone will sooner or later face the fact that housing maintenance becomes a significant burden on the family budget. Accordingly, everyone will have to think about energy efficiency. And most importantly, energy-efficient technologies allow you to create an optimal microclimate for human life - which means preserving health, thereby prolonging life."
