From February 25 to May 24, 2015, the developments of Dornbracht, the global trendsetter in the field of water technology, can be seen in New York at the 2015 Triennial at the New Museum. The company partnered with The Island (KEN), a project developed by New York art group DIS in collaboration with creative director Mike Meire. The installation is a smart island, conceived as a symbiosis of technology and art. The central part of the island is the Horizontal Shower from Dornbracht (an innovative development that allows you to take a massage shower while lying down), with an integrated drinking water station. The shower is complemented by a kitchen unit with Lot fittings, a digital Smart Water control and a foot switch.
The hybrid object brings the kitchen and bathroom together, offering a redefinition of the logic behind the use of these normally separate spaces, and draws attention to the problem of the relationship between the social and the private. The installation serves as a stage for a performance in which a hybrid object is used by various characters. According to the members of the DIS group, the project should become the basis for discussions on such topics that are relevant for modern society as personal space, interaction, “smartification”, “digitalization”, gender and “digital consciousness”.
The Island (KEN) embodies the perfect symbiosis of design and art. The fusion of the two disciplines fully reveals the aesthetic value of Dornbracht's developments and places them in a completely new context. ““KEN”means the spiritual horizon. This hybrid block stimulates thinking, broadens the mind, and challenges habitual expectations of everyday objects.”- Mike Meire.
The Island (KEN) installation is presented from February 25 to May 24, 2015 at the Lobby Gallery at the New Museum in New York as part of the 2015 Triennial, which this time is held under the motto: Surround Audience.

Since 1996, Dornbracht has been developing its own program of "Cultural Projects", acting as an initiator, ideologist and partner of a number of exhibitions and creative collaborations. Through active discourse with independent artists, musicians, architects and designers, the company has formed a new concept of bathroom culture and an alternative vision of the bathroom and kitchen as living spaces. These guidelines are reflected in the brand's motto - "Culturing Life". Dornbracht's many years of cultural engagement provide Dornbracht with an endless source of inspiration to create innovations that reinforce the brand's leading position in water technology.
