In Kaliningrad, the results of the competition for the concept of the second stage of the Rybnaya Derevnya district, located not far from the historical center of the city, were summed up. The participants were challenged not only to create a modern residential complex, but to ensure its harmonious coexistence with the urban environment and, most importantly, to form an ensemble with the first stage of the complex. The organizer of the competition was the Kaliningrad branch of the Union of Architects of Russia. In total, 27 works were presented to the jury. We publish projects that have won prizes.
First place
Sergey Furdui (Minsk)
There is no desire in the project to imitate the past or recreate the architecture of the past. However, the connection with the history of the place and the surrounding space is being established with the help of ceramic cladding and the peak-like silhouettes of buildings. The area is formed by small blocks. Isolated courtyards serve as a retreat for local residents. At the same time, houses are actively opening up to the city along the perimeter: public first floors, annexes with various functions. The well-maintained embankment, squares and pedestrian zones will become a comfortable resting place for residents and guests of the complex.
Second place
Irina Vaganova, Lorenzo Mattozi, Margono Hadipprojo (Moscow)
The authors sought to combine historical urban planning motives with the standards of modern comfortable housing. The buildings are organized by analogy with the previous development of a German city: they are a series of vertical volumes, different in height and size, and closed around the perimeter. The tower hotel becomes a transitional component between the low-rise buildings of the district and the high-rise buildings around it. The project pays special attention to landscaping the territory. In fact, all of it is a park "carpet" on which the new complex grows. An interesting solution to this concept is floating pavilions, which, if necessary, can change their functionality. They can be used as playgrounds or sports grounds, food points, a stage or any other venue for events. These floating islands can diversify the life of the area and attract visitors.
Third place
Nikita Kapiturov, Dmitry Potaralov, Andrey Shcherbak, Eva Anna Grenman (St. Petersburg)
The project, inspired by the historical development of the center of Kaliningrad, proposes to create a fortress city on the competition territory. The area is formed by two groups of residential buildings. The first is an imitation of medieval houses, and the second is a half-timbered style. The authors divide the territory into residential, hotel and public areas. For leisure and recreation of the residents of the complex, bicycle paths, an equipped embankment and a multi-level park should appear here.
