True to the ideas of modernism, Mayer persistently continues to search for a simple and clear form of his objects. Its 31-storey building with a total area of just under 26,000 m2 will appear on Xin-Yi Street, near the famous Taipei 101 skyscraper. At the moment, the construction of the supporting structures is being completed, and the construction is planned to be fully completed in 2017. The project was ordered by the influential Continental Development Corporation.
As usual with high-rise towers, 55 Timeless has two levels of perception. The lower part is actively integrated into the urban landscape and helps to organize a comfortable and quite human-sized public space, complemented by trees and modern sculpture. The second layer is urban planning. The white "plate" 127 m high will significantly change the silhouette of the city and, of course, will actively interact and even "argue" with the fancy "Taipei 101" - the main skyscraper of the city, demonstrating deliberate modesty and purity of forms.
The tower will comprise two main volumes. The northern one, closed and massive, will be trimmed with white aluminum panels, and the southern one, made of transparent glass, will “cover” the main volume as a kind of screen. The first will house the apartments themselves: two on the floor in the lower part of the building and one on each floor in the upper part - there will be 43 of them in total. The second volume will be occupied by sun-drenched public areas and special corridors that allow you to enjoy spectacular mountain views. At the very top there will be an outdoor pool and a terrace, from which the 500-meter Taipei 101 will be perfectly visible.
The glass that Meyer plans to use on the south façade is not quite ordinary. The iron content is minimized in it, which allows you to completely get rid of the greenish tint that is inappropriate in this case. Thanks to this, white, completely transparent panels perfectly let the sun's rays into a not too deep space. It is no coincidence that this type of glass is often used in the production of solar cells. With its flat rectangular shape and rigid facade pattern, the new tower can really resemble such a giant solar panel.
