The residential complex was built for the MR Group and bears the same name as another object of this developer - a shopping and business center located nearby, designed by the Atrium bureau. However, "Vodny" from SPEECH bureau is autonomous: on the territory separated from the "neighbor" by Avangardnaya street, the 26-storey towers look like a complete composition, equally effectively perceived both from near and from distant vantage points.

The surroundings of the Vodny Stadium metro station cannot yet boast of a memorable appearance, the potential of this district of Moscow, which is still partly occupied by industrial zones, is far from fully developed, although there are parks and water bodies around - the Khimki reservoir, Golovinskie ponds, the Likhoborka river. The appearance of notable buildings like the Vodny residential complex is quite capable of changing the situation. The arrival of leading Russian architects on the outskirts of Moscow reminds of a similar case more than half a century ago - on another continent. At the end of the 1950s, in the new satellite city of Mexico City, so called - Ciudad Satelite - five tall multi-colored obelisk towers were built,

Torres de Satelite. This famous work of Luis Barragán has served as a symbol of the new district, which has so far been deprived of its image - as the Vodny residential complex, also five towers of different colors, it is quite capable of becoming such a forming object for the adjacent territory.

However, an important difference between the Moscow building and the Mexican one is that the "Water" is more than functional. The five towers house almost 1,500 apartments ranging from 39 to 97 m2 - both studios and one or two bedrooms. On the ground floors there are a kindergarten and a development center, a fitness center, a representative office of a management company, service establishments, a cafe, some of the premises are leased for offices. A multi-level car park is located underground. The territory surrounding the geometric composition of rectangular towers is landscaped, there is a spacious playground - as a result, "Water" is completely self-sufficient.

For the facades, a glazed ceramic coating was chosen, with each tower receiving its own shade and relief of the panels. This solution will keep the brightness and color saturation for a long time, which is important for the sometimes aggressive metropolitan environment.

The entrances to the towers are marked with deep niches. Behind them are the lobbies, decorated using drawings by Sergei Tchoban from the cycle "City and Water". Petersburg, Venice and other cities, whose image is inextricably linked with canals, rivers, and the sea, appear on a large scale no less romantic than on paper: they are digitally printed on the glass covering the walls. The author selected drawings for "Water" together with the customer: fifteen works were considered optimal for this purpose, and each lobby received three of them. In the interiors, Sergey Tchoban's rich graphics, rich in half-tones and transitions, seem to emphasize the severity of the geometry of the external appearance of the residential complex, while emphasizing the symbolism of its name.
