The architects of the bureau of Alexander Borodavchenko have known the customer of the house on the Volga for a long time: 15 years ago they already built one house for him in the village of Gribovo. The new house was built on a site that has been owned by the customer since the 1950s - a wooden house dates back to this time, which it was decided to preserve and turn into a kind of summer house-museum that stores family heirlooms. Its western half was enclosed in a new "cover" of dark wood with a terrace, and the eastern half was left in its original form - a post-war village house.

The new house - emphatically modern architecture, follows the precepts of Corbusier and Wright. White walls with dark wood-polymer composite panels accentuate the horizontal lines. Consoles complicate the silhouette somewhat. Panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, balconies, terraces and an exploitable flat roof allow you to admire the surroundings from any angle. The undoubted advantage of the site is the view of the Volga. The northern end of the house faces the river, and although the north is by definition not the best orientation, in this case the panorama allows, as the authors explain, to contemplate both sunset and dawn. For this, the northern wall of the house, three floors above the basement, has become almost entirely glass.
