The task for the participants was to create projects for ten zones in different districts of Hamburg. The works were accepted in three categories: public space planning, urban planning and architecture itself.

Zaha Hadid became the winner in the first category. She presented the design of the flood protection dam and the boulevard for the rest of the townspeople. This is both a giant sculpture and a landscape design option. Concrete and black granite platforms and staircases that are organically connected should become a meeting and entertainment place for Hamburgers. SML Architekten and André Poitiers received silver and bronze medals in urban space design, respectively.

The Dutch workshop MVRDV became the champion in urban planning. They offered their own version of residential development for the area of the former barracks. In it, the severity of a rectangular grid of streets left from the army past is combined with large areas of greenery and providing each of the residents with an opportunity for self-expression, thanks to significant sections of the local area. The second and third places were taken by the bureau "ASTOC" and "Code Unique Architekten".

In the architecture section, BOF Architekten received a gold medal for the reconstruction project of the Altona fishing harbor. It closely links old and new buildings, the former warehouses have been turned into a public space for the city's residents. Kramer Biwer Mau Architekten came in second and Wacker Zeiger came in third.

All award-winning projects are quite realistic, and the question of their implementation is related only to the availability of investors.
