The author of the project is Richard Rogers, who has been developing it since 2004. The new building, the Ledenhall Building, will be built in the historic part of the city, in the City. It will be part of British Land's plan to redevelop the Bishopsgate and Broadgate neighborhoods.
The £ 286m building will be the tallest in London sometime after completion in 2011 at 225m (48 floors).
Then the palm will go either to the "Shard London Bridge" Renzo Piano (306 m), or to the "Bishopsgate Tower" "KPF - Cohn Pedersen Fox" (288 m).
Now, on the site of the future Ledenhall Building, there is a 12-story office building from the 1960s, which is subject to demolition.
