Architects who collaborated with the bbzl landscape bureau, in their proposal, tried to preserve the "park" appearance of "Wilhelma", which is not only a zoological, but also a botanical garden. Therefore, the building of the monkey house is perceived not as a building, but as an element of relief. It imitates a "mountain range" overgrown with greenery, a gorge in the center of which separates the territory of gorillas from the aviary of bonobos pygmy chimpanzees.
In addition to the “ridge”, chimpanzees also received a “forest”: the open part of their territory is framed by a structure of steel mesh and artificial vines, supported by metal supports. All together serve the monkeys as a climbing device, and the visitor will see in it a completely recognizable image of the forest. The trees now growing on the site of the enclosure will be used in this structure - along with climbing plants - to shade its territory and protect it from the elements.
