Its complex of two buildings with a streamlined shape will appear in Wangjing County in the northeast of the Chinese capital. It will be part of the new Wangjing Business Zone, which aims to transform the homogeneous neighborhood into a commercial hub.
The Hadid building will reach a height of approximately 200 m. Its dynamic forms seemed to the jury of the competition the most appropriate for the environment: it will be erected at the intersection of several highways.
Among the rivals of the British architect was Massimiliano Fuksas, who proposed to build there three "layered" towers, erected on a common foundation.
It should be noted that the construction of Hadid will not be the first work of the famous foreign architect in Wangjing: the Museum of the Central Academy of Arts, designed by Arata Isozaki, opened there a year and a half ago.
