On the highway connecting Turkey and Azerbaijan through the territory of Georgia, 20 such structures are planned according to the projects of the German workshop. Two parking lots have already been completed - in Gori and Lochini, and the third is currently under construction.
Picturesque places have been chosen for the buildings, so they also play a tourist role as a kind of "viewing terraces". These are large structures that house not only a gas station and a supermarket, but also a "collective farm" market and an exhibition hall for local artisans and artists.
New parking lots should contribute to the development of adjacent territories and cities. Recall that this is not the first project of J. Mayer H. Architects in Georgia: among their buildings there are an airport, administrative buildings and a border checkpoint.
State-initiated active construction now underway in the country has reached its maximum scope in the project of the Black Sea port city of Lazika (named after the ancient Georgian kingdom). The budget for its construction will amount to 600-900 million dollars, it should become the second largest settlement after Tbilisi. It is planned to attract foreign investments to finance the project.
The names of the architects have not yet been named, but "preliminary" renders show the city of skyscrapers in the spirit of the new cities of China. But if in China the megalopolises emerging from scratch are a necessity due to the high rates of economic development and population growth, then in Georgia even the already existing cities suffer from the outflow of residents, many of whom live below the poverty line. Also, the question is raised by high-rise buildings: the area chosen for Lazika is now swampy, it is unclear whether it is suitable for the construction of skyscrapers.
