On Slavyansky Boulevard, not far from Victory Park, the construction of a large shopping center Ocean Plaza is nearing completion. The project was developed by the architectural bureau of Alexander Asadov, which won a closed competition in 2013 initiated by the Moscow Architectural Council. The original project, which was rejected by the council, belonged to the architectural and engineering company ASP. Asadov's architects have significantly revised their design proposal. A new master plan for the site with a total area of more than 2.5 hectares was completed. The transport scheme for him was proposed by Boris Levyant's workshop, which also participated in the competition. The external appearance of the building has also changed beyond recognition, in the formation of which one of the leading roles was assigned to the finishing material due to the laconic form.
In their project, the authors tried to take into account as much as possible the important and complex urban planning position of the building. On the one hand, the complex reacts to the busy Kutuzovsky Prospekt with an emphasized horizontal division of the façade - solid and long; on the other, it maintains a street, human scale from the side of the boulevard. A lively and active environment has been created here, with a wide pedestrian promenade, softened corners of the building, illuminated by bright showcases at the ground floor level, outdoor terraces and cozy outdoor cafes. The central entrance, located at the intersection of Slavyansky Boulevard and Rublevskoye Highway, is especially emphasized. A wide entrance area is organized in front of it, smoothly flowing under the voluminous canopy-console and further into the inner shopping arcade. On the opposite side, behind the complex, there is a small green park.
Light mother-of-pearl panels with perforation AluWALL system, covering most of the complex facades in the form of a continuous solid canvas, large rectangular screens or an extended wide belt, made the volume, rather heavy and large for the designated area, visually lighter. In addition, they added volume, texture and plastics to the flat surface, which made the whole building seem to come to life. Thanks to a special volumetric perforation on aluminum panels, in which the cut elements are bent perpendicular to the facade, an interesting 3D effect was achieved. Looking at the building from different angles, you can see soft overflows, and the constant play of light and shadow, and a stormy ocean wave, and warm tree streaks. The color of the walls, as well as their pattern, also changes and plays in the sun, since the AluWALL system panels have a complex pearlescent shade - “chameleon”. All this gives a variety of perceptions of the complex as a whole. The effect is enhanced in the evening by the built-in programmable backlight.
The construction of the complex is expected to be completed in the first quarter of the coming 2016.
