The previous bridge over the Vosso River was demolished by flooding in 2014, and in the spring of 2015, the town announced a competition to design a new structure at the same site. Their conditions were the connection of the "interior" of the bridge with the picturesque surroundings and the ability to fish from it - as it was possible to do before (in Vosso, among other things, salmon is found).
As a result of the competition, the project was selected by Rintala Eggertsson Architects, who proposed to build a bridge with a corten steel frame and plank sheathing. To avoid monotony, the architects chose two "rhythms" for the bridge, as in the score for percussion: they are expressed by metal and wooden parts, respectively. Above the concrete pillars of the bridge left over from the destroyed structure, there are two rooms protruding above the water: they mean pauses and are used for fishing - now fishermen and pedestrians will not interfere with each other. The outer metal structure expresses the forces acting on it, and the wood inside adds a human dimension.
As the customers wanted, the landscapes around are clearly visible in the gaps between the planks. The selected materials - corten and Accoya wood - are maintenance-free, which will significantly save the municipality's money. The roof of the bridge serves the same purpose: this will largely eliminate the problem of snow removal, which is more difficult to do on a pedestrian bridge than on a regular one.
