MVRDV architects, together with ALL and Giboire studios, have designed a residential complex Ilot de l'Octroi on the banks of the Vilen River - opposite the "peninsula" formed by its confluence with the Ile River. It was decided to develop this territory within the framework of the Ren 2030 plan: the city has recently become a popular place to live, and it was decided to satisfy the demand for apartments at the expense of the districts surrounding the historic center. At the same time, the future residential complex (its construction will start in 2018 and will be completed in 2020) will be connected to the center by the François Mitterrand pedestrian walkway.
Ilot de l'Octroi with a total area of 8,200 m2 will comprise 135 apartments of various layouts, of which one third will be social. All tenants will get balconies (from the side of the river), terraces and loggias. In addition, greening of common areas is envisaged, including a garden on the third floor, where a workshop for residents and a botanical garden will also be located.
