The customer of the large project - the total area of the Bujeon Glocal Vision Center is more than 42 thousand m2 - was the Pujon Presbyterian Church. Its goal was to create a cultural and religious center open to local residents and the international community (hence the glocal in the name), different generations, the city and nature, a cultural and religious center with a “modern Christian program”.
The building is constructed of concrete without any coating; to achieve the desired quality, the architects had to use models at a 1: 1 scale and additionally train workers. The complex is bounded by busy highways and the Oncheoncheon River Valley, but there are no tall buildings around, so panoramic views of Busan and its surroundings can be seen from the terraces and staircases that enclose the building from the outside. The main viewing platform was the operated roof; the terraces are planned to be landscaped. The architects deliberately abandoned the traditional composition of the church with a spire, but their solution still resembles a ship (which refers to the nave ship of a Christian basilica). Dynamic forms fit better with the modern urban landscape, the authors say.
On the ground floor there is a children's library and a kindergarten, a cafe, a bookstore, a concert and wedding halls, also used for services, are located above, and even higher is the main church. In addition, the complex includes a variety of educational institutions for children and adults. There is also an underground garage.
