Office on Pulkovskoe highway

St. Petersburg, municipal district "Zvezdnoye", Pulkovskoe highway, section 82

Designer: Studio-17 Architectural Bureau

Customer: Pulkovo 32 LLC

Discussed: project

The business center according to the Studio-17 project will be built on a site located not far from the airport exit, where giant shopping centers are lined up on one side of Pulkovskoye Highway, and on the other side - bizarre car dealerships serving as the foreground of a high-rise residential complex. The second line behind car dealerships is scattered objects - individual houses, parking lots, offices, a kindergarten.

The new building is paired with the Pulkovo Star business center, built according to a project by the Intercolumnium bureau: they are related by a height of about 55 meters, large glass areas and even a sloped wall. Between them is a four-story stalinka - "a trailer for the locomotive of an existing building," as Svyatoslav Gaikovich put it. The attached parking is located on the south side for the sake of observing insolation standards - on both sides the business center is surrounded by housing.

Parking was criticized in one way or another by everyone, starting with the reviewer Anatoly Stolyarchuk, who is very loyal to the work of his colleagues. He argued the possibility of such a decision by the fact that a "high-low" rhythm is created, as well as the remoteness of the site from Pulkovskoye Highway - the strip of the park and the mosaic of "car dealerships" will hide an imperfect solution from everyone traveling to or from the airport.

The experts were worried about the hood - whether the exhaust would get into the windows of residential buildings, as well as the amount of time it would take office workers to park with an elevator. The question naturally arises about a green operated roof - TEPs would not allow it to be made like that, there would not be enough space for cars. Mikhail Sarri asked the question: is it necessary to disguise parking lots as residential buildings or leave them with windowless garages? Nikita Yavein also suggested "to paint the facade and make it more intelligent." Sergey Oreshkin noted that the building will need sun protection - so that it is comfortable and not colorful, otherwise everyone will start to save themselves with curtains and blinds. With such reservations, the project as a whole was supported by all the speakers.

Yevgeny Gerasimov was glad that they would build an office, not housing, and called it “normal sealing construction”. And he also expressed surprise: why is such a problem-free facility being discussed at the City Council, if a project by the Japanese bureau Nikken Sekkei for the development of the Okhtinsky Cape has appeared.

The chief architect of the city, Vladimir Grigoriev, saw much more flaws in the project than his colleagues. For example, he considered that “no developer in civilized countries would afford such a building - it would go bankrupt in operation. Nikken Sekkei are already using other technologies without consulting the city council. " "Architecture," he continued, "is not an event."

Monument to Fyodor Ushakov

St. Petersburg, Truda square

Authors: Vladislav Manachinsky, Anatoly Chernov, Lada Chernova

Initiator: Association of Public Organizations of Veterans of the Navy

Discussed: preliminary design

For the first time, the monument, which is planned to be installed on Labor Square, was discussed in December. The authors took into account many comments regarding the dimensions and details of the pedestal, the proportions of the sculpture and, most importantly, the location. The previous time, the monument entered the "spot" of the Annunciation Cathedral, the restoration of which, according to the conviction of many, is inevitable.

Awkwardness with the absence of a reviewer was softened by Nikita Yavein, who volunteered to replace the "urgently departed". He noted that much has become better, but there are still many shortcomings: the bottom is heavy, the drawing of the masses raises questions, the sculpture is rough. The new location option is only suitable as a temporary one, acceptable until reconstruction. Further it turned out that the drawing with the imposition of the plan of the cathedral was not prepared by the authors - it "appeared in the bowels of the city council and, it seems, is incorrect." The distinction between layout and rendering added further confusion to the discussion.

Basically, the question was: to erect a monument temporarily or to immediately make a project for the improvement of the square in case of restoration of the cathedral? New shortcomings were also found out: the plinth was thick, the cartouche together with the bas-relief “did not live”, the admiral looked too young.

Yevgeny Gerasimov proposed to seriously deal with the issue, instead of "quickly resolving something by some date" and "not blocking the way for the new generation, which should restore the church blown up by the Bolsheviks." The monument, in his opinion, should be erected in a different place - for example, at the Naval Academy and Ushakovsky bridge. Rafael Dayanov recalled the Square of Sea Glory on Vasilievsky Island, which “cries out in anticipation of the admirals,” and also pointed out the absence of a historical and cultural reference plan, without which “it is impossible to consider something in the city center”.

There were also opponents of the reconstruction: "it is impossible to combine a transport interchange with a cathedral, a procession with the cross and crowds of beggars on the porch." Sergey Oreshkin urged to support the project: the square with the monument can become a link in the chain of public spaces, because New Holland and Konnogvardeisky Boulevard are located nearby.

Vladimir Grigoriev summed up: “The place for the installation of the monument is determined by law and justified. The restoration of the temple is controversial. Excluding the area from traffic is an unsolvable issue with such an intense flow. In order not to make a spiritual mistake, first of all, you should clarify the location of the crypt. And finish the pedestal”.
