The town of Dankov in the Lipetsk region is small, in the competition for the improvement of small towns it won in the category of cities with a population of up to 20,000 people. Meanwhile, the LipetskAgro plant, located to the east of the city, produces cucumbers and tomatoes that need 3 times more than the Lipetsk region needs (I think I saw their products in Moscow Auchan). To the west, in the same "language" of the industrial territory, there is a special economic zone of regional significance: a timber construction plant, a plant for environmentally friendly building boards, and so on. Farther west, closer to the city, there is a former Soviet chemical plant - a town-forming enterprise that was closed, but now operates as one of the country's oldest organosilicon enterprises, and next to it is the "chemical plant settlement" mirkrodistrict. In a word, there is nothing surprising in the fact that the Lipetsk region ordered a project for the improvement of the left bank of the Don, the territory closest to all these developing enterprises, but at the same time located in the city center, north of the "central bridge".
The microdistrict adjacent to the river is called Bogoslovka by the name of the church standing in front of the bridge, and the embankment, respectively, Bogoslovskaya. The length of the section under consideration is 1.8 km, there is no improvement on it now, according to the authors, but: "The projected area is the largest green recreational place in the city," the authors of the project clarify.
The young bureau with the long name “Regional Branch of the All-Russian Organization“Urban Renovations”in the Lipetsk Region” has proposed a walking, cycling and skiing (!) Route that combines several thematic zones created on the river bank.
Commentary advice to colleagues from the authors of the project:
“To win this competition, an integrated approach is important. Various specialists and active citizens were involved in the work on the competitive application. In my opinion, the most important thing is interaction with residents, users of the future public space. After all, the success of a comfortable place depends on them 50%. There will be no interest, the park will not live. It is also important to consider not only the beauty of architectural solutions, but also their functionality. It is worth considering how to create an enabling environment for entrepreneurs. If there is a business, there will be, again, a flow of people. It is worth paying attention to the functioning of the site after delivery. You need to think about how, for example, the comfortable embankment will live on. And here the circle closes and we again return to the townspeople, with whom the design process began. Perhaps I said obvious things, but they are not always given importance."
Cultural zone
The first zone is Cultural, near the bridge, closest to the city center. To the authors: “a complex public space with an amphitheater, stage and event spaces. It is divided into three tiers. The first is the pavilions. Designed to accommodate trade and catering enterprises, and also include an educational function and a craft workshop; The second is the Upper Square. It serves as a space for folk exercises, dance evenings, film screenings or educational lectures. Since ancient times, Dankov was known for his horse fairs and farmsteads in the cultural zone, a light installation in the form of horses on a pasture was designed. This art object will become an excellent visiting card of the place and city, and will also be a point of attraction for tourists and photography enthusiasts. The lower square on the third tier is a place for recreation and yoga in summer, and in winter, the main Christmas tree is installed on this site. It is also the starting point for cycling, skiing and hiking trails."

The next zone is for children, predictable in its composition. The main accent is a climbing structure with a slide-pipe, "cherry" - a tree house.
Beach
The beach area is located at the far end of the route, at the turn of the Don, where the remains of the dam of the inoperative Dankovskaya HPP are now preserved.
The zone is “divided into two conventional parts: an observation deck and a dam. The observation deck offers a beautiful view of the Don River and the railway bridge. From here you can fish, take pictures and gaze at the stars. Youth Square is the final link of the embankment, where cycling, skiing and hiking trails end. In this place, youth and sports events of both city and regional scale can start. The main attraction of the beach area will be a wooden platform. It offers access to water and a beautiful view of the river. A place of solitude and tranquility. The city beach is equipped and absolutely accessible to all groups of the population. Here the river makes a turn and a view of the railway bridge opens from here."

Image and brand
“Dankov is a quiet, cozy and clean city, whose residents love and appreciate the place where they were born and live. Therefore, one of the archetypes of the project was the silhouette of a house with a gable roof,”the authors explain. Indeed, all the pavilions in the project have acquired an acute-angular shape, which, however, does not in any way correlate with the silhouette of an old Russian town, but it looks very relevant and reminds, frankly, the tongs of Hanseatic cities.
In which, however, there is nothing wrong - it immediately allows you to read the project as modern. You can, of course, sigh about the real graphic identity of the places of the notched line, but: a sharp silhouette can also be understood as a graphic sum of the middle (or is it already southern?) -Russian hip roof and the towers of engineer Shukhov, one of which is well preserved - guess where - in the estate of Polibino Yu. S. Nechaev-Maltsov, located on the opposite bank of the river from the Streshnevo tract, where the ramparts of the ancient Dankov, more precisely Donkov, destroyed by the Mongol-Tatar unifiers of the Russian lands in the 13th century, have been preserved. So, the tower is high, the traditional roof is pitched, and so the sharp roofs of the pavilions of the Bogoslovskaya embankment turned out.
The authors also suggested brand options - now it is almost an obligatory component of an urban landscaping project, basing its graphics on a zigzag pattern, similar to the outlines of the mentioned roof, but also reminiscent of the Egyptian hieroglyph of water for a river.
