The reconstruction project of the Streltsov stadium, better known as the Torpedo stadium, was carried out by Michel Remon's French bureau, which won the competition held by Strelka KB, which, in turn, attracted the developer Ingrad Group of Companies as a consultant.

Torpedo should become the first district stadium in Moscow that meets UEFA requirements and is capable of hosting matches of any level, including the highest, but also not breaking away from its “district” functions, working as a multifunctional center and attracting residents. Children's and adult sports sections are planned, on the outer territory next to the monument to Streltsov - a new sports complex with boxing and wrestling sections. According to the project, new fields for year-round training in football, mini-football and other games will be attached to the stadium building. The project is presented under the slogan "Torpedo - to the people".

The stadium's capacity will increase from 13 to 15 thousand people, the new roof will cover all the seats for the fans. There will be a bar, restaurants and a children's center.

“After the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup, we have learned very well how to build stadiums. But they are all nationwide and are intended for television broadcasts. In Europe and America, we meet a different format - there stadiums are part of the infrastructure of a residential area. The first such project in Moscow will be the Torpedo stadium. At the same time, due to the quality of the architectural design, it will be an exceptional stadium,”says Strelka KB partner Grigory Revzin.

“Our Streltsov Stadium project will create a new heart for the area that sits between Vostochnaya Street and the Moskva River - a heart that will ensure unity between the existing area and the new residential complexes under construction on the embankment,” says Michel Remont, an architect whose bureau built the stadiums "Gaston Gerard" in Dijon and "Auguste Delon" in Reims.

The puck-like volume of the building built in 1959 was surrounded by a ring of perforated steel by French architects - it is assumed that the pixel pattern of the perforation will depict football players who will be chosen by Torpedo fans. Since they are the carriers of the spirit of the place, the authors explain. Metal refers to the work of the ZIL plant, since it was he who owned the stadium before the plant stopped. Other ways to preserve the memory of the place are the hall and wall of fame, as well as the 3D logo of the club.

The territory of the stadium will remain open to citizens, the organizers of the competition report. The walking route along the upper alley of the stadium will be preserved. The existing open area in the project is slightly enlarged and expanded - it should become an observation deck overlooking the river. The paths between the sports zones in the area around the stadium in the French project are also interpreted as walking alleys, a park for local residents.

“The sports complex was built in 1959 as the home arena of the Torpedo football club, a three-time USSR champion. Both the stadium and the club belonged to ZIL, so many factory workers trained and rested here with the whole family. However, in the 1990s, the plant was unable to cope with financial difficulties and ceased to exist, and the club and the stadium were left on their own. For many years, the sports complex was in decline, until in 2017 its main shares were bought by new investors - the owner of Ingrad Group and a shareholder of the Rossium concern Roman Avdeev,”the organizers of the competition explain.

KB Strelka acted as a consultant to the developer GK Ingrad, attracted French architects, and also, according to KB representatives, "helped to solve the problem of integration into a residential area."

Reconstruction will start in April 2020. During this time, the club will play on a temporary site, and then return to its stadium.

About the territory around the remains of the Simonov Monastery, the place where Simonovskaya embankment comes to a standstill, running into the industrial zone of "Oil product", it is known that the concept of its development and development was developed by JSB "Ostozhenka", later the topic was transferred to the bureau "Tsimailo, Lyashenko and Partners", whose draft was rejected by the council two years ago, however, hinting that the project was "in good hands." Since then, the project, it seems, has not been exposed in the public space; it has appeared on real estate websites under the name of the residential complex "On Simonovskaya Naberezhnaya", but so far without a price. In 2017, when the architectural council was considering it, the reconstruction of the Torpedo stadium was part of the project; it was planned that Dmitry Bush would deal with it.
