Since the times of Ilf and Petrov, much has changed in the county towns of N. No, life here is still the quietest, only the nature of this silence has shifted in the direction "for the gray pyramids" - that is, eternal rest. People here are still born and die, but "life", its active segment, prefer to spend in other places.
The federal program "Urban Renovations" should fix this. As part of the program, YSTU students have developed graduation projects for the transformation of some areas of the city of Danilov. According to the plans of the administration, a bright future for the city is promised by actions in the field of horse breeding, local food production, tourism and the development of certain exotic attractions, such as a prison castle, as points of attraction thereof. Hence the theme.
The main thing that unites these projects is the ability to see the picture as a whole and make this picture your own. The main thing that is left in small towns, for which we come back again and again, that singer Angelica Varum expressed more accurately than any architect: “Where births are celebrated and seen off forever with the whole yard”, in some projects there is. Or there is at least a hint of understanding this sensation. It goes away with people, and small towns turn into summer cottages and sleeping areas.
Perhaps the very first rough calculation of financial models will break the slender pictures into separate pixels. Let be. Let the initiative to build a decorative city in an open field be unrealizable even by ear. Let it be difficult to imagine festivals of music and light in towns where light is only from lanterns, through one, and music is on a city day or at a funeral. In the end, the same festival of Coachman's Song takes place in the city of Gavrilov-Yam. Not international, of course, but between the courtyards - "Hurray!" Let the idea of attracting local entrepreneurs to social programs be shattered by the complete apathy on the part of these very places. Let the attempt to sell a poultry burger for 200 rubles in a city where the average bill at Pyaterochka is 150 rubles is surprising. Life will fix it. None of this has happened yet.
While the champagne of graduation has not yet turned into a headache, and the boat of childhood has not completely sailed away, until all the cities of the Motherland are covered with typical "European" landscaping, one can be glad that students have their dream of how everything can be, and wish to further strengthen dreams by actions. In the twentieth century, it was enough to make a project; in the twenty-first century, it was necessary to do something. In the end, any dream in the presence of action turns into reality. Examples are everywhere."
Social center

“The result of the work on the functional filling of the old walls of the prison was the creation of a social center of a new type by synthesizing existing historical and modern analogues: employment centers, monasteries, workhouses, and industrious houses. The new social center provides assistance to people who find themselves without work, housing and livelihood, at the same time, it meets the needs of the city and is relevant for its residents and visitors.
The imaginative solution and planning structure of the complex was based on the idea of a “city within a city” with its streets, retail space and a center - a prison castle. The work on the architectural appearance of the prison castle was carried out at the junction of conservation and reconstruction, since it is in the combination of the old and the new, the contrast of materials, that the idea of filling a historical building with a modern function is visually reflected in architecture. It was decided to preserve the existing buildings and preserve the old walls, so as not to lose a touch of time, which speaks of the rich history of the place, and the mysterious atmosphere of the castle that attracts tourists. The periphery of the "city" is occupied by new buildings, they are located along the red lines of the streets, thereby strengthening the perimeter of the "city in the city" and inscribing it into the surrounding buildings."
Prison castle - leisure center

“An important role in the compositional and functional solution of the complex is played by the territory of the castle with two wings at the entrance, the prison cellar located away from the fence of the prison castle, as well as workshops for prisoners built in the middle of the 20th century. A café and a bar will be located in the outbuildings, which will act as an entrance group. The workshops building will not change its function, but will change the audience: instead of prisoners, residents and guests of the city will learn the basics of crafts here. For a very young audience of visitors to the prison castle, themed playgrounds and quests are envisaged, as well as the construction of a modern wing, which will house a children's development club, a children's television studio and a chess school."
Tourist complex "Prison Castle"

“Since the prison castle is an identified object of cultural heritage, at the pre-project stage it was necessary to determine what is of value and what is not. Based on this, two levels of value are distinguished: - historical and iconic. The prison castle, its wings, the prison fence and the courtyard are of historical value, since they are indicated in the project of the prison castle in 1859. The objects built in the 1960s are of significant value: the promenade behind the castle, the workshops with their courtyard, and the former cellar.
Buildings ranked as historical value are maximally cleared of superstructures and transformations, their silhouettes are formed as the architect intended. Elements of railway aesthetics are introduced on the skeletons of buildings of iconic value. Industrial brutality is intertwined here because of the historical connection between the prison and the railroad, revealed by Eldar Ryazanov in the film "Station for Two".
As a result, the project is a cultural and commercial center that creates in the fabric of the city another point of attraction for both tourists and local residents by creating a gastronomic, museum, exhibition, hotel and recreational function here. The complex can become a place for reflection on the past, present and future, and filling with function will help a casual guest or city dweller to live with this building and feel its charms, perceived by a person of the XXI century."
Renovation of the station squareand locomotive depot

“The design object is two territories in the city of Danilov, separated by a railway. The first is Pryvokzalnaya Square, the main transport hub of Danilov, and the second is an industrial area with several objects of industrial architecture of the early 20th century.
It is proposed to create a visually multi-layered space on the Pryvokzalnaya Square, consisting of false facades-galleries along the perimeter of the square, and several terraces to separate functional areas and visitor flows in the pedestrian zone.
The project of renovation of the territory of the rolling depot is based on the principle of the dominant value of the old architecture. This is achieved by creating on the spot the discordant extensions of the Soviet period of background neutral buildings with public functions. The master plan of the territory is also built in the context of the historical environment - its structure is based on the urban planning axes of the remaining industrial buildings of the 20th century."
Prison castle

“Formation of the concept of the project for the reconstruction of the Prison Castle in Danilov is based on the recognition of the dominant value of a separate architectural monument. The existing plan of the complex was superimposed on the planning scheme of the freak show - the project of the ideal prison of Jeremiah Bentham (1791). The prison acts as a watchman's tower. Around it, along the perimeter of the existing brick wall, cells are located - an analogue of cameras. This level includes an exhibition space, a restaurant, a gym and workshops. It is through, the prison can be observed from all sides, like a museum piece. The bars create the effect of a "box" in which the prison is placed.
The complex operates in two modes.
"General" - organizing leisure activities for local residents. In the main building of the prison there are various bars, eateries, dumplings, a pub and a wine-bar. You can visit a barber shop, get a tattoo, buy a guitar, play chess or cards, buy a book, sing a chanson song in karaoke, take a picture with a prison sign or on a bunk. Each camera has its own purpose.
"Special" - holding music and light festivals in Danilov. The stage is the dominant feature of the festival. The prison building is the dominant feature of the entire complex. During festivals, the roof, like a turntable, lifts the "lid" and "sounds".
Equestrian tourist complex "Coney Island"

“The equestrian tourist complex is located near the village of Ramenye, not far from Danilov. To create the structure of this settlement, a method was developed, on the basis of which an algorithm for working on a large plot of land was built. The composition and functional zoning are arranged according to the "island" principle. The territory is divided into three parts. The first is the center, represented by objects with a social function. The second part is the buffer zone occupied by individual housing. The third is the periphery, which is occupied by everything related to horse riding and keeping horses. They interact with each other through the streets that leave the center and connect it with the rest of the zones, as well as the ring road that encircles the buffer zone and closes the “island”. The architectural style of Coney Island is the result of a rethinking of such analogs as the buildings of the Russian countryside and the Wild West."
