The Rostov glass plant of the international company Guardian Glass supplied architectural glazing for the translucent roof of the Moscow Polytechnic Museum. The project is being completed by the general contractor of the reconstruction - JSC Polytechstroy.

The use of special glass with magnetron sputtering will expand the space of the Polytechnic Museum and make it accessible all year round and in any weather.

For the roof of the Polytechnic Museum, glass in neutral and silver shades was chosen, which improves the appearance and fits well into the overall architectural concept of the reconstruction project.

“Experts of the Rostov Glass Factory applied a double deposition of silver and several layers of other metals on the glass surface, with a total thickness less than a human hair,” said Pyotr Ivanovskiy, head of the architectural direction of Guardian Glass. - It is thanks to a special coating that glass acquires special properties, including helping to reduce the cost of heating and air conditioning a room by effectively conserving heat in winter and protecting it from sunlight in summer. At the same time, the coating is practically invisible to the human eye and absolutely safe for people."

The company "Mosavtosteklo" processed Rostov glass using the technology of heat-strengthening and lamination, then more than 2000 glass units of square, triangular and even trapezoidal shapes were assembled from it - these elements are subsequently used when installing the roof on a mesh frame made of aviation aluminum, designed and produced by specialists of the company "Carrying systems "from Novosibirsk.

“The translucent roof over the North and South courtyards is a previously absent element in the architecture of the museum, which is receiving increased attention during the work due to the unprecedented complexity of the project, both from an engineering and organizational point of view. Work on it was carried out for about two years at different sites in four cities of our country, this is a completely domestic development. We are grateful to our partners for the joint path they have made: we have gained valuable experience not only of interaction, but also of working with digital technologies, which will undoubtedly be useful in future projects,”says Irakli Kolbaia, General Director of JSC Polytechstroy.
