The 24-storey office building was erected next to Vivaldi Park on the southern outskirts of the Dutch capital and serves as a kind of "beacon" for motorists arriving in the city.
Its façades in black frosted glass are lined with a diagonal lattice of steel trusses, sheathed with aluminum, which creates at the same time a restrained, "classic" and striking image.
The load-bearing structure of the walls made it possible to make the floor plans as free as possible: lifts, stairs, and intermediate foyers are located in a transparent "core" connecting both halves of the tower. These two volumes are slightly shifted relative to each other so that all parts of the building have maximum access to sunlight (special processing of glass panels of the facades will allow avoiding excessive heating).
There are terraces on the roof of the building - recreational areas for specialists working in the Vivaldi Tower, and its lower part is occupied by a three-storey lobby. In front of the tower, under a canopy, there is a “water yard” with an eco-pond: there are reeds and water lilies planted there, and around the reservoir there are a cafe for the complex's employees, an auditorium and a bar.
The green roof of the cafe, a self-cleaning pond, an underground water tank for passive cooling of the premises, and a rainwater collection system made the Vivaldi Tower 10% more energetic than required by Dutch legislation.
