Danir Safiullin reports: “It was interesting for us to offer our vision of an energy efficient home. Energy efficient architecture holds great promise as it provides cost savings both in construction and in the operation of any architectural structure. At the same time, the main design element should be the harmonious coexistence of architecture with nature, and in our project we tried to embody this principle.

The archetype of housing was taken as a basis - a dugout, a feature of which is the "ground cover" as the main element of warming and cooling the interior of the house. We offered to make the most of what was originally on the site - the land and its properties. The base of the house, floor level, it is proposed to lower the project to the depth of freezing of the earth, and fill the entire volume of the house with the excavated soil. So we will contribute to the minimum heat loss both from the floor of the house and from the walls during its operation."

Second prize, 300 thousand rubles, received by architects Anna Delgado and Alexandra Yankevich for the project "Evo-house".

Alexander Remizov, Member of the Board of the Union of Architects of Russia (CAP), Chairman of the CAP Council for Sustainable Architecture and NP "Council for Green Building", member of the competition jury, awarded honorary diplomas to the work Roman Zakharova and the project "Evo-house" … “Sustainability and energy efficiency are the future of modern architecture. The ROCKWOOL competition has demonstrated that our architects are already capable of presenting worthy solutions and projects in this direction. It is important that young architects think about the idea of a long service life and embody it by designing houses that can change over time. This is one of the main principles of sustainable architecture,”Mr. Remizov emphasized.

Tatiana Smirnova shared her impressions of the competition: “This year the competition is being held for the second time, and we are pleased to note that the quality of project execution has increased and the geography of participants has expanded. The choice of both the finalists and the winners was not easy for the jury, since the level of the submitted works was quite high. We thank all participants for interesting projects and invite architects to take part in a new competition, which will be announced during this year."
