The decisiveness and ingenuity of Danish architects is amazing. The collapse of the construction market in 2008-2009 forced them and developers to respond to the needs of society much faster than they are used to in our area. The project of the Danish architecture studio EFFEKT and Stanford University, called ReGen Village, is a small village on self-sufficiency: its inhabitants are able to independently provide themselves with food and energy. In the next 50 years, analysts say, another 2.5 billion people will move to cities, and the ReGen Villages project should become an alternative to the process of global urbanization. It will solve a wide range of tasks: from providing the population with food and water to countering the rise in land prices and the emission of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Living conditions in the energy-efficient houses of ReGen Village are quite comfortable, since each of them will be equipped with:

  • hydroponic systems for the cultivation of highly profitable organic products;
  • technological solutions for water accumulation, wastewater treatment, complete processing of all waste;
  • to the maximum - with vegetation, a roof garden or on open terraces is required;
  • solar panels combined with natural ventilation, passive cooling and heating.

The first hundred pilot buildings will appear in the Dutch city of Almere, which is less than half an hour's drive from Amsterdam. Construction of a settlement with an area of 15 500 m2 started in the summer of 2016, the first residents will settle there in 2018. The community will not do without agricultural storage facilities, processing centers, farms and fields. Village greenhouses will occupy 1000 m2, for aquaponics it is planned to give 2500 m2, and 1500 m2 - for a seasonal garden. Several more construction sites are currently under development; in the near future, following the Netherlands, such settlements will appear throughout northern Europe - in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Norway.

In addition to residential buildings, ReGen Villages are planning to build their own schools, kindergartens, medical aid and electric car charging points. They will also receive a rooftop garden and other attributes of smart landscaping, which are known in Russia from the activities of the company "ZinCo RUS" ("ZinCo"). The company "Tsinko RUS" has many years of experience in creating green spaces and "blooming roofs" in the urban environment. Tsinko RUS delivers its projects on a turnkey basis, taking part in every stage of landscaping: from designing a roof to planting plants with subsequent maintenance. The reliability and responsibility with which the company approaches its work is evidenced by the guarantee provided by Tsinko RUS - 10 years for all work and materials.
