Wood Wharf is an as yet undeveloped dock area in London's East End, adjacent to the famous Canary Wharf and also located on the Isle of Dogs. For developers, the Canary Wharf Group, it is a follow-up to a massive 30-year-old London Harbor redevelopment project that will guide many future urban plans.
Now we are talking about the creation of a new district with 3,100 apartments, 240,000 m2 of offices, 31,000 m2 of shops and restaurants and 3.6 hectares of public space according to the master plan of architects Allies & Morrison. They also designed two office buildings of the first stage, and three residential towers were entrusted to Herzog & de Meuron and Stanton Williams - there will be a total of 884 apartments.
These five buildings are planned to be built in 2014-2017, and then the investor will supplement them with buildings of different heights and different types of buildings, including townhouses. At the same time, preference among office tenants will be given to "creative media" and companies engaged in high technologies and IT. It is also assumed that many of their employees will live right there in Woodworf.
